Day 56
→ Adventure
Swansea to Little Musselroe Bay
The week began at Andrew’s parents house in Swansea on the east coast of Tasmania. For a while it didn’t look like we’d get any further than that!
Just as Andrew recovered from a lung infection, Nic came crashing down with what turned out to be salmonella. Your could do a whole unit of work on food poisoning and good hygiene!
With antibiotics it had cleared up enough to continue by Thursday, but we have an appointment with a special person coming up soon so we decided to catch a ride up to St Helens so we wouldn’t miss it.
Leaving St Helens on the dirt road going north Nic and Wilfy crashed into the soft gravel. Well, maybe not so soft. Wilfy received a graze to his cheek but Nic had a nasty lump on her forearm and had to go back into St Helens to get an X-ray. The rest of us stayed camped in the bush to wait. Nic came back the next day with news that it wasn’t broken but we needed to catch another lift to get to Little Musselroe Bay.
So it has been a challenging week with illness and accident. We are all still in good spirits and look at it as part of the adventure. No one is seriously injured so we think we’re pretty lucky!
