I Love Nev (Gibb River Road)

‘Okay, gotta go guys, the Gibb River Road needs me.’ Nev joked as we departed after a quick hello on the road. Except it wasn’t really a joke.

Nev and Leonie run Over the Range Tyre & Mechanical Repairs on the Gibb River Road. People who break down, and there’s quite a few, really do need him. We’d spent a night at their place a few days earlier and grabbed the opportunity to interview Nev. He and Leonie had a small village of workers, friends and passers by at their property so it was a special chance to meet some real characters of this iconic Australian road.

Living in remote places has many challenges, but also many opportunities. In class take some time to discuss the types of careers that are available outside major cities and towns and why people would choose to do them?
